1st XV — Paul Hills

Paul HillsAs many of the players and members know, the squad has been seriously affected by injuries, both on and off the pitch. Yet one good point to come out of this is the enthusiasm of the Club's younger players. Through their training and match performances they have kept a level of consistency that might have otherwise been lost at an early stage in the season. The squad has also been boosted by a number of newcomers. I would like to thank all players for their continued encouragement.

Training is now on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Because of this weekly double effort, the potential strengths of the squad become clear. There is a quicker progression in skills and fitness levels than there has been in previous years. For this I must thank the coach, Jon Thomas, and also Jason Cole for their excellent tuition.

The 1st Team are eager to be more successful this year, so any support on the sideline on Saturdays would be much appreciated by all. Also, if you know of anyone who is interested in playing or supporting please direct them to us!

2nd XV — Steve Armson

Steve ArmsonWhat a good year so far. We have managed to turn out a team every week, and despite suffering quite a lot of injuries, the team have managed some great games of rugby (even if we didn't win them all!).

It's also good to see so many of the players attending training: some twice a week. If you want to come and join us, it's every Tuesday and Thursday from 7pm — all levels and abilities are welcome.

Our younger squad members are developing very nicely. Some have already progressed to the 1st Team and I wish them well. I have enticed Alan Hemsworth out of retirement: Al has played for us a few times this season and he still has it! Bryan Hunt retired this season and we do miss his presence — I haven't given up on trying to get him to play though! I hope to see many of you down at the Club before the end of the year. So come and join us for a beer, and Merry Christmas!
