Castle Cary travelled to Tor with a good squad that included three replacements. The day was very blustery with sporadic heavy rain, making playing conditions difficult.

Tor were a well drilled, confident side and started very strongly. Within ten minutes, Cary had conceded four converted tries without getting into the opponents' half. Despite this, their heads never went down and they gradually began to make progress into Tor's half of the field. The home side scored a further two converted tries in the first half, thanks mainly to a talented all-rounder.

During the second half, Cary improved still further, with the scrum more than holding their own. This gave rise to some exciting passages of play, with all of the backs being involved.

After several penetrating runs, taking on the middle of the Tor defence, Gareth Cadwalader powered across the line after running half the length of the pitch to score a well deserved try. It was converted by Peter Key.

With a second half score of two tries to Cary's one, all of Cary's squad are to be commended for a highly creditable performance. Although this is a significant loss there is a lot of positive indication for future performances to be taken from their efforts.

Main areas for immediate improvement are rucking and mauling, along with tackling, prior to the next game in a fortnight.
