Depleted numbers meant travelling to this away fixture with only 12 players, but a helping hand from Chard meant starting the game with a full side.

A good start was made by both sides, with Chard opening their account after only 15 minutes. Cary came back strongly but were unable to hold Chard out from scoring another quick try.

Unperturbed by this and still with their heads held high, Cary rallied when fly-half Neil Mumford put an excellent restart kick into the corner for a 5-metre line-out. Chard won their set piece but their indecision on the line enabled the visitors to steal the ball and place it down for a try. Unable to add the conversion saw the scores at 14–5.

Chard came back hard and the last ten minutes of the half saw Chard camped on the Cary line but unable to cross it. The second half saw a flurry of quick tries from Chard. Missed tackles and poor decision making from Cary saw a disappointing final score of 80–5.
