Crewkerne turned up with only 11 players, but enthusiastic to play the game. Cary lent them three players until their 15th man turned up.

From the start of the game Cary gave away penalty after penalty, and nearly paid the price with one in front of the posts, only for the Crewkerne kicker to miss. Stern words from the skipper to try and cut out the penalties and retain possession gave the backs the freedom they needed to run in several tries from well worked moves. Nick Gibbons playing scrum half for Crewkerne proved to be a real handful. Thanks to Nick, along with James Travers and Gary Reynolds for stepping in to help the away team.

At the break Cary turned up the heat going down the slope, using their forwards to retain possession for quick balls to the backs. The penalty count crept up again 20 minutes into the second half, but with Crewkerne's kicker having an off day they opted for tap penalties. Cary's defence held up to leave the final score 44–0.
