Despite having equal possession, Cary were able to take the lead early on with a drop-goal from John Clay, followed by two penalties from Robbie Blackburn, leaving the half time score well in the hosts favour in spite of a converted try from Chard.

The second half saw James Atkins playing second row, organising the forwards to provide good ball for the backs and resulting in two breakaway tries from Nathan Evans, both converted by Blackburn.

Man of the Match was awarded to Oli Teacher, making his debut at hooker and putting in a good all-round performance, particularly in line-outs and scrums.
