Castle Cary 2nds' second game of the season was against a well-drilled Tor side, which had an above average mix of young faces. On an overcast and hot day, this gave Tor the edge later in the game.

The first half was well matched and hard fought. The scratch Cary pack dominated the scrums and won a fair proportion of the opposition's put-ins.

However, it was a moment of indecision in the dying minutes of the first half that let Tor get the first of their four tries, with a long pass to the wing to touchdown in the far corner.

With the start of the second half, the heat started to affect a much older Cary side, with injury to the pack resulting in them having to go uncontested in the scrum. This resulted in Tor winning their ball. They then increased the pressure on the Cary back line, leading to the home side conceding a further three tries.

Captain Steve Armson commented after the game, 'A very enjoyable game with our novice players gaining the essential game time required to progress to first team standard. On a personal note, many thanks to Gary Brennen who stepped into the hooker's position and saved me the pleasure. Also a big thank-you for the team on a hard, hot and exhausting day.'
