Castle Cary travelled to Winscombe with 14 men. The opposition helped by lending players and the game was played in good spirit.

Castle Cary took Winscombe by surprise with their free-flowing rugby and strong defence. They opened the scoring with a blistering run by Rick Gates and a superb pass to Gary Reynolds, who ran it in under the posts.

Winscombe played on Cary's mistakes to score two tries. The half-time score was 10-7 to the home team.

During the second half, Winscombe brought on younger and fitter players, which turned the game around for them.

Cary captain, Steve Armson, said, 'It was an enjoyable game played in good spirit.' Cary's Man of the Match was Tom Pullen, who worked hard throughout the game.
