After a cold night, there was a heavy frost on the pitch — which wouldn't easily take a stud. The decision was taken to play 'touch' rugby and the game ensued.

Cary have not played much 'touch' rugby and Frome were well practised, running in five tries after constant, steady pressure. Nevertheless Cary kept working hard.

With 17 players on the day, there was a deal of change throughout the contest in an effort to give everybody enough time on the field.

The second half saw an improvement in the Cary game by trying to keep attacking lines steep, and defensive lines flat. This impeded Frome's ability to score but they crossed the Cary line three more times.

Playing 'touch' rugby did encourage the lads to pass the ball more frequently once committed, which will have a positive effect on their normal game.

With the Christmas period away from the rugby club our next game will be on the first Sunday back (at home against Cheddar on January 8th). Get there ready to go by 10.15am so we can run off some of the turkey!
