Youth montage

Castle Cary's Youth Section was re-launched in January 2004 and continues to go from strength to strength, with players being picked to represent county and Super 6 (inter-county) teams. We regularly have over 100 children training on Sunday mornings, with children from the age of four years to under 17s taking part. We train between 10:30 am and 12:00 pm every Sunday during the season (except Christmas and Easter).

From the Under 7s age group upwards there are fixtures against other teams, which are are all listed here. These do change occasionally, so please also check the notice board in the Clubhouse and this website for updates. Coaches are kept fully informed of fixtures and will inform you of any relevant changes.

Directions for away fixtures are given out the week before the game, and a Google Maps link is usually added to the 'Forthcoming' box on the site homepage.

We have 16 coaches with an RFU Level 1 coaching certificate, several qualified referees and first-aiders. All coaches and helpers are CRB-checked. Several more coaches will be trained throughout the season.

Two of our coaches, Will Ennis and Richard Wraith, will be going into local schools this year to promote the Club.

Each age group has a parent representative: they will be your main point of contact for information on events, fixtures and directions to clubs when playing away. The parent representative organiser is Sharon Willoughby, who can be reached via the form on our Contact page for any information, or if you want to volunteer to be a parent rep.

We sell merchandise on Sunday mornings and also recycle kit by having a selection of second-hand items for sale.

Would you like to help?

Volunteers, who give their time for the benefit of members, wholly run the Youth Section; additional help is always needed. A thriving Youth Section is vital to the future of the club, as well as giving considerable value to the youth of our community.

No matter what your talent, there are many ways in which you can help — whether on or off the pitch. E.g., refereeing, coaching, training, helping in the kitchen, administration, merchandiser, etc.

Why not give it a try?

If you are interested, please contact us. Please also take some time to read the guidelines. You can find individual contact details for our Youth coaches on this page.
